We are blessed with rich traditional resources here such as water, oil and natural gas.  We are also fortunate to now be in position to take advantage of plentiful alternative energy resources such as wind and solar power.  Texas’ natural resources are abundant; however, sound resource management and development is critical.  I believe that water conservation and management through local groundwater conservation districts is preferable to the legislature making statewide water policy.  Simply put, our needs and issues here are different than those existing in the metroplex or downstate.  I also believe in promoting and supporting a strong oil & gas industry.  I am adamantly against proposed federal cap-and-trade laws.  I will work with our federal representatives to oppose the implementation of such legislation.  I believe that the further development of wind and solar energy here will continue to attract new business and industries to our area.  Our natural resources represent some of our greatest assets.  I will promote and protect them.
